Description

The flat colors for this picture have been done for over a year now and I just picked it up ready to do some lighting and shading.

The Jackalope is a quite little drawing I did a while ago, just a doddle on a paper. The idea was to embrace the american folk lore that we created outside of all these modern sitcom stories and japaness anime. Japaness animes use many of thier folk lore in thier cartoons to embrace a great story, so why don't we go into our own history as much. It maybe mostly because it's full of racist dicrimination and genocide, but Paul Bunyan, Johnny Appleseed, and John Henry are great stories. Why don't we enjoy the fun tall tales of these heros anymore. The Jackalope cartoon is in modern times but even though humans have turned the West into a computrised automobile heaven, the West is still wild in nature.

The Jackalope has no name (almost reminisant to Samruai Jack) but he does talk and try to help people out with an ignorant innocence. Rejected by his parents just the jackalope went out on his own to be a normal person and find a place that'd accept him.

He found Oswald, an Armadillo with a family but is loosing his house to bandits. He wants to make sure his family is safe so he needs to find a new home for them or get enough money to pay off the bandits to leave him alone. Jackalope comes to rescue in the 1st ep. by beating up the bandits, but desides to travel with Jack anyway (constitaly writing to his family or tacking a trip back home to go see them and give them gifts he found).

The Jackalope got his name when he was confused to be a ruthless one footed rabbit named Lucky Jack. Throughout the human and animal world he's known as an unstopple trouble maker and steals what ever he can. Lucky Jack has such a huge reputation that when the Jackalope goes into a bar most people confuse him for Lucky because Jackalope's a frighting looking guy with the horns on his head. Most people think they're the same guy, unless they're in the same room together.

Gilla Joe is a horible poisionous reptile that works as Lucky Jacks' hentchman. He's clever, he's mean, and has a breath that kills. Most of the time both Lucky and Joe don't hurt anybody but when push comes to shove they're not the team to fight with. They've taken out Dogs and other animals the times their height. The Jackalope has quite a bit of problems on his hands.

This is just wonderful.

A lot of modern teenagers today focus on manga and anime and take it like the best thingin the world. And then they ignor regular american cartoons, no matter how well they do.

This really is a wonderful cartoon concept. The idea of the jackalopes really is a fun little modern take on 90's cartoons full of animals and fun human journies. I would love this cartoon to death if it were aired on cartoon network or something.
